Flavors of Austin 2020

The University of Texas Legend and Pro Football Hall of Fame Member Earl Campbell hosted the Ninth Annual Flavors of Austin on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency. The exclusive benefit raised awareness and funding for The Pro Player Foundation and the 2020 highlighted beneficiary: The National MS Society. Our vision, in connection with the National MS Society, is a world free of Multiple Sclerosis. It is our hope that people affected by MS can live their best lives as we stop MS in its tracks, restore what has been lost and put MS out of business.

Earl’s son, Tyler Campbell, was a running back for San Diego State University in 2006 and 2007. Prior to the start of his senior year, Tyler was diagnosed with MS. Tyler did not want to let his team down, and played his final season at San Diego State University with MS.  His diagnosis sidelined his dream of following in his Father’s footsteps and playing in the NFL, but Tyler stated, “I gave way to my purpose. I decided to use my voice to help other people. I went from having a fear of speaking, to traveling north, south, east and west inspiring young people. As Ambassadors for the Pro Player Foundation, the Campbells work tirelessly to provide hope and inspiration for those who live with Multiple Sclerosis.

Pro Football Hall of Fame members Eric Dickerson, Tony Dorsett, Joe Greene and Robert Brazile attended the 2020 event, as well as Cowboy’s star Ed “Too Tall” Jones. Joining the legends were UT greats Fozzy Whittaker, Brian Orakpo, Michael Griffin and Derrick Johnson. “When I got the opportunity to attend Flavors of Austin, I couldn’t say no,” says Robert Brazile, a member of the 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame class. “I am so happy. Because of the Campbell family, I am here.”

The 2020 Flavors of Austin sponsored by Biogen was a great success and we are so thankful for those who helped us in making it such a memorable evening. The culinary community who joined us at our 2020 event included Austin Gourmet Popcorn, Bravo Company BBQ, Chinatown, Eberly, Fleming’s Prime Steak House and Wine Bar, Hoover’s Cooking, Hyatt Regency Austin, Jugo, Pitchfork Pretty, Quality Seafood, Ranch 616, Salt Lick BBQ, Toss, Whitfield’s, and the University of Texas Club. Delectable desserts were provided by Amy’s Ice Creams, Sinsational Cakes Bakery and Yummi Joy. “I have several family members who have been diagnosed with MS,” Chef Sonjii Ward-Jones, winner of the 2013 Food Network show Cupcake Wars stated, “It means a lot as far as giving back to the MS community.”

By raising funds and awareness through special events and programs, the Pro Player Foundation addresses the needs of the underserved and provides hope.  We are targeting Multiple Sclerosis, an unpredictable and often disabling disease that disturbs the flow of information from the brain, through the central nervous system, and to the muscle.  Those diagnosed with MS may feel frequent tingling and numbness, and the disease may eventually lead to blindness and paralysis. Our mission at Pro Player Foundation is to put an end to Multiple Sclerosis forever and we need your help and voice!

If you would like to join our mission, please contact Mary B at Maryb@Gamedayconsulting.net for opportunities. The Pro Player Family hopes you will connect with our team to put MS out of business and we look forward to seeing you in 2021.
