Flavors of the Gaslamp

Flavors of the Gaslmap is an exclusive charity event which takes place in San Diego, CA during the summer months of each year.  Pro Player Foundation produces the event that raises much needed awareness and funds for a highlighted cause or medical related organization.   The event is always held in downtown San Diego, home of the historic Gaslmap District.

Former football veterans Lorenzo Neal, Eric Allen and Tyler Campbell will host the Fifth Annual Flavors of Gaslamp.  The event is slated for Saturday, June 16, 2012 and will take place at the Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier from 6 to 10 p.m.   The 2012 highlighted charity will be The National Multiple (MS) Sclerosis Society, in honor of Tyler recently being named an ambassador for the organization.

Causes and organizations that have previously been featured and highlighted at Flavors of the Gaslamp have been The Family Reach Foundation and Rady Children’s Hospital.

The event features tasting stations from the some of the Gaslamp’s award winning restaurants.  Restaurants which have previously participated at Flavors include: Asti Ristorante, Bice, Candela’s, Chocolat, Cupcake Love, House of Blues, La Fiesta, Monsoon, Morton’s, Osteria Panevino, RA Sushi, Rama, Ruth’s Chris, SaltBox, Soleik@K, Suite & Tender, Urban Bar & Grill and Zen Café.  Previous drink specialties have kindly been provided by ONEHope Wine, Red Bull, 5-Hour Energy, Svedka, Smart & Vitamin Water.

Guests in attendance have had the opportunity to mingle, take pictures and get autographs from a number of different current and former professional athletes including Earl Campbell, Lorenzo Neal, Eric Allen, Quentin Jammer, Jacques Cesaire, Luis Castillo, Darren Bennett, Mat McBriar, Michael Husted, Nick Folk, Mike Goff, Le’Roi Glover, Steve Gregory, Legedu Naanee, Hank Bauer, Tim Dwight and Peter Clifford.

Along with generous table sponsorships from the local business community, Flavors of the Gaslamp also raises funds through a live and silent auction.  The live auction has featured several weeklong trips to destinations like Hawaii, Mexico, Canada and parts of the Caribbean.  One-of-a–kind experiences that have also been bid on include football camps with current and former pro athletes, unique experiences at sporting events, a private beach BBQ at the prestigious Monarch Bay Beach Club, and private invitations to Club 33 at Disneyland.  The silent auction is always loaded with great items to bid on like weekend trips to Las Vegas, Santa Barbara and Sedona, golf outings, resort and spa packages, tickets to upcoming concerts, and specialty sports memorabilia items like signed balls, jerseys, helmets, pictures and plaques.
