Over 400 guests attended the 2011 JBowl bowling party which benefited Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research and foster teens. Co-hosts and Chargers defensive teammates Jacques Cesaire and Quentin Jammer along with Honoary Chair Darren Bennett began the evening by addressing each bowling team and explaining why the event was needed.
Each sponosored team had a desginated celebrity player to compete with. Celebrity players included current Chargers Shaun Phillips, Nick Novak, Dave Binn, Curtis Brinkley, Mike Tolbert, Tommie Harris, Cam Thomas, Luis Castillo, Nate Kaeding, Ogemdi Nwagbuo, Antonio Garay and Antwan Barnes. Other celebrities included former NFL veterans Lew Bush, Hank Bauer, Robert Griffith, current NFL referee Mike Carey, former San Diego Padres Pitcher Mark Grant and current Padres Pitchers Heath Bell and Aaron Harang.
Along with generous donations and sponsorships, much of the money raised at JBowl came from our live and silent auction. The live auction was highlighted by a custom electric guitar from Taylor Guitars, a weekend trip to watch the final round of the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, GA and a week long trip to Paris, France. The silent auction was highlighted by roundtrip JetBlue Airline tickets, a 52 inch Sony TV, House of Blues concert tickets, box seats to the Del Mar Racetrack, VIP tickets to the Farmers Insurance Open golf tournament, and gift certificates to Georges at the Cove and The Westgate Hotel. Auctioned sports memorabilia included several autographed items from sports legends Aaron Rodgers, Nolan Ryan, Kobe Bryant, Earl Campbell, Landon Donovan, Kellen Winslow, Dan Fouts, Tony Hawk, Bill Walton, Barry Sanders, Willie Mays, Drew Brees and Antonio Gates.
We could not have had such a successful event with out some amazing cuisine from some of San Diego's best restaurants. JBowl featured food from Asti Ristorante, Poway Sushi Lounge, SaltBox, House of Blues, Rama, and Cupcakes Squared. Drinks were provided by ONEHope Wine, DLush, Svedka, Smart Water, Vitamin Water and FRS Healthy Energy .
The event was an absolute success! On behalf of the Cesaire, Jammer and Bennett families, we at the Pro Player Foundation, we would like to thank all those who came and supported our causes. We look forward to seeing you next year!
